Within minutes of downtown, you can find yourself in Gatineau Park, a scenic wilderness oasis within Quebec’s Gatineau Hills. Encompassing 35,000 hectares, the forests are home to an astounding variety of wildlife, including deer, bears, and timber wolves. The park offers trails that give dazzling views of the surrounding lake country, sure to please hikers and camera buffs alike. Summer activities in the park include cycling, mountain biking, swimming, rock climbing and more. In the winter, enjoy snow shoeing and cross-country and downhill skiing.
Horseback riding offers a unique way to enjoy the countryside surrounding downtown Ottawa. Less than an hour’s drive from our hotel, you can find Captiva Farms, offering 20 kilometers of trails through the panoramic Gatineau Hills. Even closer to ARC THE HOTEL is Pinto Valley Ranch, a western-style ranch where you can enjoy horseback riding, wagon rides, and sleigh rides.
Water enthusiasts will find a thrill on the Ottawa River, one of the most popular rivers in Canada for whitewater rafting, riverboarding, and kayaking. Esprit Rafting will take you through both channels of the Ottawa River in one day, for twice the adrenalin. River Run Rafting offers a range of outdoor activities, including rafting, canoeing, and a private paddler village for kayakers.
Extreme adrenalin junkies will appreciate “The Rock,” one of the world’s most spectacular bungee jumping sites and the only place in the Americas to experience a 200ft. drop. Great Canadian’s Goliath, suspended above a spring-fed lagoon larger than 3 football fields, is found just a 20 minute ride from our hotel. Don’t miss their other adventure ride, the 1015ft. ripride over the lagoon at speeds up to 85mph.
