During the spring and summer months, temperatures can be quite pleasant, averaging 10°C to 30°C. The restaurants and bars of the Byward Market proudly fill their patios and serve their favourite craft beers. Crowds linger on the lawn of Parliament Hill, and bikes become a popular means of transportation. Outdoor city-wide events and festivals, such as the Canadian Tulip Festival, CityFolk Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, and Ottawa Bluesfest, attract locals and visitors alike for a good time.

When the winter chill sets in, temperatures can drop to between -2°C to -15°C, as everyone pulls on heavy coats, boots, and accessories. Adventurous individuals head to the frozen Rideau Canal to participate in the celebrated tradition of outdoor ice skating. Others find their way into the many art and history museums scattered throughout the city. Cultural venues put on holiday theatre and musical performances, while hockey season gives us a reason to cheer until the weather warms again.
